Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone

Well, I must say that even though I like the other books in the series better than this one, I would say that this has to be my favorite book. I say that only for one reason: this is the book that introduced me to Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. It starts out by introducing us to the Dursley family on Number 4, Privet Drive as a completely normal (or so the book says) family. The author tells us, not immediately that they were wizards, but it definitely tells us that The Dursley's one pair of relatives were not normal. So, back to the Dursleys, threre is beefy Vernon Dursley with his very little neck, there is bony Petunia who spies on the neighbors, and of course pampered, piglike Dudley. Dudley is far from the cute little baby we all were. He is porky like his father and pampered like his mother. Well, at least Petunia was pampered until her sister got, the letter. The letter came from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The best in Britain (which by the way is where the story takes place, in case you didn't know). So Lily Evans got the letter and Mr. and Mrs. Evans were so proud to have a witch in the family. It was Lily this and Lily that. Petunia was ignored and left alone. But when Lily and James Potter (Lily's husband) are murdered by the most notorious Dark wizard of their time, the Dursleys find it hard to keep living a "normal" life. The Dark wizard Lord Voldemort is the most feared wizard of all time. And when he came to the Potter's house late one evening, it seemed that the Potters were doomed. Now the Potters had one small son called Harry. So afterVoldemort had already killed Lily and James, he turned his wand upon Harry. And the strangest thing is that when Voldemort did the deadly curse, the curse that had killed so many grown witches and wizards, he couldn't touch Harry, The curse rebounded on Voldemort and he was ripped from his body. After that day, nearly everybody except one Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, thought that Lord Voldemort was gone forever. And young Harry was famous. The reason the Dursleys could no longer live a completely normal life anymore was that the night that Lily and James died, their son Harry was left outside their door. Sice the Dursleys are Harry's only living relatives (Petunia being Lily's sisterr), Harry has to go and live with them. And all the ten years that Harry lives at the Dursleys, he never knows the true world in which he belongs. He was told that his parents died in a car crash. And he never knew otherwise. Until one stormy night.
